He has a BSc (Geographic Information Science) from Curtin University and a PhD in Geography from the Pennsylvania State University where he worked on representing geographic semantics. James is primarily concerned with the integration of physical and social science factors in modelling risk and vulnerability and developing the National Flood Information Database (NFID).)
